DoW Reconstructive Transplant, Concept Award
About
Summary: The fiscal year 2026 (FY26) Reconstructive Transplant Research Program (RTRP) Concept Award supports the exploration of highly innovative new concepts or untested theories that address an important problem relevant to reconstructive transplantation. The Concept Award does not support clinical trials. Distinctive Features: · Innovation: Innovative research may introduce a new paradigm, challenge existing paradigms, examine existing problems from new perspectives, or exhibit other highly creative qualities. Research that is an incremental advance upon published data is not considered innovative. · Relevance: Projects should address at least one of the FY26 RTRP Focus Areas. · Preliminary Data: Presentation of preliminary data is not allowed; however, applications should demonstrate the ability to achieve interpretable results. A rationale for the proposed work must be provided. · Early-Career Investigators: Early-career investigators are encouraged to apply. Investigators at or above the level of postdoctoral fellow are eligible to apply.
The DoW Reconstructive Transplant, Concept Award is a federal research grant designed to support groundbreaking, early-stage research in reconstructive transplantation. This program funds innovative explorations of untested theories and novel concepts that address critical challenges in the field of reconstructive transplant research. Unlike traditional research grants, the Concept Award specifically encourages highly creative approaches that introduce new paradigms, challenge existing assumptions, or examine established problems from fresh perspectives. This opportunity is particularly valuable for early-career investigators, including postdoctoral fellows and researchers at higher career levels, who want to develop preliminary evidence for innovative ideas without requiring extensive existing data. The grant does not support clinical trials, making it ideal for fundamental research, theoretical exploration, and concept validation. Researchers whose work aligns with the FY26 Reconstructive Transplant Research Program Focus Areas are encouraged to submit. This funding mechanism enables investigators to establish the foundation for future, larger-scale research initiatives by demonstrating the feasibility and potential of truly innovative approaches to reconstructive transplantation.
