Department of Health and Human Services" Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) priorities by preventing chronic disease early in life and promoting healthy development in early childhood. TPEC recipients will: Place early childhood development (ECD) experts in pediatric practices that primarily serve families covered by Medicaid/Children"s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and deliver high-quality ECD services using a team-based approach. Build the skills of pediatric primary care staff statewide to deliver high-quality ECD services using a team-based approach. Improve statewide administrative polic.
The Transforming Pediatrics for Early Childhood (TPEC) Program is a federal initiative designed to strengthen early childhood development services within pediatric primary care settings across the United States. This program supports organizations with statewide or tribal reach in placing early childhood development (ECD) experts directly into local pediatric practices that primarily serve Medicaid and CHIP-eligible families. The program funds comprehensive, team-based care models that screen families for critical needs including mental health support, housing stability, nutrition, and developmental concerns. Healthcare organizations and state-level entities should apply if they want to enhance pediatric primary care quality while reducing costs through integrated developmental services. By implementing TPEC, recipients build staff capacity statewide to deliver evidence-based early childhood services, establish safe and nurturing caregiver-child relationships, educate families on developmental milestones, and connect families to specialized support services. This aligns with the Department of Health and Human Services' Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) priorities by preventing chronic disease early in life and promoting optimal child development during critical formative years.
